The Faculty was founded in 1667 to remedy deficiencies of Hungarian law with the thesis of common law, and until 1872 only this faculty granted education in Law and Political Sciences on university level.
The Faculty offers courses to both undergraduate and graduate students who wish to take either an undergraduate or a postgraduate degree.
The faculty comprises 21 departments and a foreign language centre. The Faculty aims to produce graduates who have a thorough knowledge of the legal and political theory of the legal system of the Republic of Hungary and its specific laws, and of the procedures involved in their implementation. They should be able to use this knowledge in designing and drafting of laws, as well as in the field of public administration.
